As the debate about nutritional labelling on restaurant menus continues to heat up in Canada, a study out of the U.S. shows changes could be favourable among diners.

According to a study from the International Journal of Hospitality Management in the U.S., diners expect healthful options. “Customers have favourable attitude toward and high willingness to visit restaurants providing healthful foods and nutrition information,” reads the study by Kiwon Lee, Martha Conklin, David A. Cranage and Seoki Lee. “Restaurateurs should consider taking such initiatives to entice more customers and develop a socially responsible image.”

According to France-based Relaxnews newswire, the study surveyed nearly 300 people who were offered different dining choices, including the option for healthy and unhealthy food as well as nutritional information. They were also asked questions about the restaurant’s social responsibility and whether they would visit the establishment again.
