Vancouver Magazine Presents Annual Restaurant Awards

VANCOUVER — The spotlight was shining on Farmer’s Apprentice restaurant during Vancouver Magazine’s 25th Annual Restaurant Awards earlier this week, where it received accolades for Best Restaurant, Best New Restaurant and Best Casual Restaurant.

Sharing the spotlight was Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill & Enoteca, whose chef Pino Posteraro received the Chef of the Year award and the award for Best Upscale Italian. Other Best-of winners include Jay Jones, executive bartender and brand ambassador for Donnelly Group (Bartender of the Year); Thomas Haas, pastry chef at Thomas Haas Chocolates & Patisserie (Pastry Chef of the Year); and Mike Bernardo, sommelier, Vij’s (Sommelier of the Year).

The magazine also presented a series of special awards, including a Green Award, which went to The Parker restaurant, and Supplier of the Year, which went to Sole Food. Richard Jaffray, founder of Cactus Club Café, received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Other category winners included Hawksworth Restaurant (Best Upscale Dining); Homer St. Café & Bar (Best New Design); Vij’s Railway Express (Best Food Cart); Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar (Best Seafood) and Cactus Club Cafe (Best Casual Chain).
