Vlahek Receives Aramark Gold Plate Award

TORONTO – The Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals/Association canadienne des professionnels des services alimentaires (CAFP/ACPSA) announced Maria Vlahek as the 2012 National ARAMARK Gold Plate award recipient at its annual conference held in London, ON in May.

Maria Vlahek is pictured above (Right) receiving the National ARAMARK Gold Plate award from Brian Emmerton, RD CFE, VP Canada; Complete Purchasing Services (a division of ARAMARK).

Maria, a recent graduate from Ryerson University, was actively involved and led numerous activities with the Ryerson CAFP Student Branch where she served as President.

In addition to being actively involved in student branch activities, Maria worked with ARAMARK as a Diet Technician. Maria also worked with Compass Group Canada as a Foodservice Supervisor, and was a Support Worker at the KW-Habilitation Services. Maria was a dedicated volunteer. She was a Volunteer Peer Health Promoter and a Meal Exchange Volunteer at Ryerson University. Maria maintained a strong academic standing, graduating with a high GPA.

Congratulations, Maria! We wish you all the best with your internship and look forward to having you continue your involvement with CAFP!

The CAFP Gold Plate program, initiated in 1970, is a national initiative in place at all student branches of CAFP to promote the mentoring, developing, and fostering of future executives and leaders of the foodservice, hospitality, and dietetic industry. As sponsor of the program, ARAMARK supports the top student leaders in each of the 16 student branches.
