CHESHIRE, Conn. — Wayback Burgers officially opened its first Canadian location in Winnipeg on May 18. The opening marks the franchise’s 11th international restaurant, with other locations in Brunei, Sudan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan, the Netherlands and Malaysia.

“After attending discovery day, trying the delicious food and seeing the new design, I knew we needed a Wayback Burgers in Winnipeg,” says Mike Brown, owner/operator of the new Winnipeg location. “I wanted to be the first to open one in Canada. Also, after meeting with Rick De Dominicis — master franchisee for Manitoba and Saskatchewan — and seeing his drive to succeed and the support he was offering, I knew I was in good hands.”

The new location will partner with the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, as well as other local clubs, to support the community.

“Wayback Burgers is growing quickly internationally, so we’re pleased to announce this latest expansion in Canada,” says Jason Murawski, vice-president of International Development at Jake’s Franchising LLC. “It’s our franchisees’ passion and commitment to their communities that makes Wayback Burgers successful. We’re confident Mike Brown and his team will continue that commitment in Winnipeg with their first Wayback Burgers restaurant.”

The popular burger franchise offers a variety of cooked-to-order burgers, which can be upsized to as large as a triple-triple — a nine-patty burger. It currently operates in 30 states and has more than 166 locations worldwide, with plans to add 38 new Canadian locations in Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
