TORONTO — Wayne Gretzky’s Toronto and Oasis Rooftop Patio is closing at the end of the summer to make room for a new condo development.

“We’re honoured to have shared so many memorable moments in sports history with so many fans,” says Heather Santsche, GM of Wayne Gretzky’s Toronto. “We want to thank all our guests throughout the years who’ve made our time here the most incredible experience possible. As a thank you, we’re inviting supporters to celebrate our last summer season together.”

The popular sports bar made the announcement last week, indicating it would close its doors after 26 years. The Second City, a comedy club neighbouring Wayne Gretzky’s, will also close due to the condo development.

The company has made no plans to relocate the restaurant and bar, which first opened in 1993. Named after the hockey legend, the restaurant showcased personal memorabilia from Gretzky’s career, including jerseys, photos, hockey sticks and other items.
