VANCOUVER — The Canadian National Competition for the International Chocolate Awards took place this week in Vancouver with strong entries from chocolatiers across the country.
Edmonton’s The Violet Chocolate Company won a gold metal (for the second year in a row) for its rosemary-honey bar in the Flavoured Chocolate category. Vancouver-based Beta5 Chocolates also took a gold metal for the second year in a row for its Fisherman’s Friend in the Dark Ganaches and Truffles category. Newcomers Gusto Chocolate, based in Maple Ridge, B.C., took home a silver metal for its Artisan Bark Dolce Vita, which won in the Flavoured White Chocolate category.
The Canadian winners are invited to enter the world finals held Nov.4 to 6 in London, U.K. The International Chocolate Awards is an independent competition recognizing excellence in fine chocolate making and products made with fine chocolate.
