Winnipeg Considering Patio-smoking Ban

WINNIPEG — The city of Winnipeg has approved a motion that could see smoking banned on patios in the city by 2018, reports CBC News.

Winnipeg city council’s Protection, Community Services and Parks committee is set to review what other Canadian municipalities do with regard to patio smoking and seek consultation on changing the city’s current outdoor-smoking bylaw to include patios.

Winnipeg is the only major city in Canada that hasn’t implemented a smoking ban for public patios, following a bylaw introduced by Regina city council in May.
