World Menu Report Details Waste Concern

LISLE, Ill — The overabundance of restaurant waste is causing concern among customers around the globe, according to the latest World Menu Report by Unilever Food Solutions.

According to the report, 60 per cent of diners in eight countries wish restaurants would be more transparent about their sustainability practices.

And, in the U.S., some 71 per cent of diners expressed concern about the amount of food thrown away every day in restaurants, cafeteria and other out-of-home venues. What’s more, nearly half of diners would spend more for meals at foodservice locations that are limiting food waste.

The research comes from a study of 4,000 diners in the U.S., United Kingdom, Germany, China, Russia, Poland, Brazil and Turkey.
