LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Yum Brands has named Brian Niccol Taco Bell’s new CEO, effective Jan. 1. He will take over from Greg Creed.

“[Niccol] is a dynamic leader who genuinely cares about this brand, its people and the culture of the organization,” Greg Creed, CEO, Taco Bell, told The New York Times. “He has a proven track record and the necessary vision to deliver our growth objectives.”

Niccol is currently Taco Bell’s U.S. president, and will begin his new role once Greg Creed, current CEO, begins his new role as CEO of Yum Brands. Niccol will be responsible for brand strategy, doubling sales in the next 10 years and opening approximately 2,000 new restaurants. Previously, Niccol served as chief marketing and innovation officer and was responsible for the “Live Más” tag line for Taco Bell.

Taco Bell operates more than 6,000 outlets and is the smallest out of Yum’s three divisions, which also include KFC and Pizza Hut.
