QUEBEC — It’s not every day that a foodservice professional earns the highest recognition in the Canadian honour system, but don’t expect Daniel Germain to take all the credit. The president and founder of Breakfast Clubs of Canada shares this award with thousands of hardworking, dedicated individuals.
“This honour doesn’st belong to me alone,” said Germain. “It’s the result of the work done by everyone who has put their confidence in me and who has made the decision to take part in this important project, completely devoted to the well-being of our children.”
Breakfast Clubs of Canada is a national organization dedicated to providing services and funding for school breakfast programs across the country. The goal is to ensure every child has the chance to start their day with a nutritious breakfast in an environment that promotes self-esteem.
“From the beginning, I’sve been surrounded by compassionate people, ready to put words into action,” Germain said. “Together, we have worked tirelessly to make sure that all children get an equal chance at success in school. This award is the crowning achievement of our efforts and the recognition of our work so far. And even if sometimes the scale of what we still want to accomplish seems huge, every time I wear this prestigious insignia, I’sll know that we’sve done a really good job and that we continue to head in the right direction.”
The Order of Canada recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
