On October 2, Le Mas des Oliviers will close its doors after 50 years of giving downtown-Montreal residents honest French fare. Owner Jacques Muller, who purchased the restaurant in 1976, recently announced his retirement on Facebook. “I cannot express properly the joy that the restaurant has brought to my life and my family’s life over the last four decades,” he wrote. “Our staff and I have had the great pleasure of serving over a million customers and I want to thank not only our customers but the staff for their loyalty.” Many Facebook users have already posted loving tributes to Muller, his family and staff and the great food memories they’ve shared together.
