VANCOUVER — When it comes to trendy desserts, the cupcake is undoubtedly the current king, and last week, Vancouverites flocked hip Yaletown to pick their faves. The 1st Cupcake Challenge, presented by Nicole Marie Events and Follow Me Foodie, drew more than 1,100 guests to the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre.

Cupcake vendors showcased their most delectable cupcakes, which were available for public sampling and judging. This event, exclusive to local cupcake business owners, brought the community and local businesses together under one roof.

There were three categories for judging: People’s Choice, Bloggers’ Choice and Judges’ Choice. Frosting Cupcakery from Langley, B.C. took home both People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice, while the renowned Big City Cupcakes from Vancouver took home Bloggers’ Choice.

“With the impressive turnout and resoundingly positive response, Vancouver’s Cupcake Challenge will certainly be made into an annual event. Bigger and better food challenges will be forthcoming!,” Nicole from Nicole Marie Events and Pak from Follow Me Foodie said, according to foodvancouver.com.
