VICTORIA, B.C. — Corby Distillers’ small-batch Lot No. 40 has been named the Canadian Whisky Awards’ Canadian Whisky of the Year.
Award selection took place during the sixth-annual Canadian Whisky Awards held in January, after a jury of 10 whisky experts performed blind tastings. “Canada’s whisky makers have responded to skyrocketing interest in Canadian whisky with a wealth of new high-end releases,” says Davin de Kergommeaux, chairman of the judges. “For example, for the first time ever, a major legacy brand, Crown Royal, has bottled single-barrel Canadian whisky at high proof.”
The awards also recognized Canadian Club 100-Per-Cent Rye as Sippin’ Whisky of the Year and awarded gold, silver and bronze medal rankings to several participating whiskies, including Gooderham & Worts, Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye, Crown Royal Hand Selected Barrel and Masterson’s 10-Year-Old Rye.
