TORONTO — Gold Medal Plates, a cross-Canada culinary competition that raises funds for Canada’s Olympic athletes, has introduced an invitational beer competition for 2017.
Gold Medal Pints is being curated by beer writer and expert Stephen Beaumont, who has selected 50 beers from breweries across the country for the competition. Five local beers will be available to sample at the Gold Medal Plates events taking place across Canada.
The full slate of beers will be judged by a panel of independent beer experts — also selected by Beaumont — and the top five will be poured at the Canadian Culinary Championships in Kewlona on Feb. 2 and 3, 2018, when the Gold, Silver, and Bronze-medal winners will also be announced.
