QUEBEC — Labatt Breweries of Canada purchased Microbrasserie Archibald in April, acquiring all but the Quebec microbrewer’s bar and restaurant division, which will continue to belong to Archibald co-founder, François Nolin. Microbrasserie Archibald joins Labatt as an independent operation under Labatt’s craft-beer division, which includes Mill Street Brewery in Ontario and Stanley Park Brewery in B.C.
Nolin and Louis Beaudin co-founded Archibald in 2005 and expanded the company to include four restaurants in Quebec with plans to bolster the company into a nationwide chain. Alongside expansion work, Nolin will continue to serve as manager to the Archibald microbrewery.
Some popular Archibald brands served in Quebec include La Chipie, La Joufflue, La Matante, La Brise du Lac, La Ciboire and La Valkyrie.
