TORONTO — Fine-dining restaurant aKin opened its doors last month in Toronto at 51 Colborne Street. Founded by Alvin Leung, a three Michelin-starred chef, and Eric Chong, the first winner of MasterChef Canada, aKin represents a fusion of decades of culinary expertise and offers an exclusive blind tasting menu that challenges the senses and re-imagines traditional flavours.
Although Leung and Chong aren’t related by blood, the name aKin reflects how they’ve become a family through their shared passion for culinary excellence. This bond is represented by a DNA-inspired central light fixture, a custom piece that illuminates the heart of the restaurant.
The blind tasting menu, where each of the 10 courses offers a modern twist on traditional Asian and fusion cuisine, is priced at $275 per person. Additionally, from December 10 to 30, aKin will also feature a seven-course menu showcasing its signature creativity and bold flavours, priced at $195 per guest.
At aKin, the beverage experience is curated by award-winning mixologist Jamison Cass. The in-house sommelier complements this with carefully selected wines, ensuring a blend of flavours with each course.
aKin’s Chef’s Counter offers an exclusive dining experience within the heart of its kitchen. Seating just four guests, this intimate setup provides a front-row view of its culinary team as they craft each dish. The enhanced tasting menu features additional premium ingredients, enriching the experience and showcasing the depth of their culinary craft. The private dining room can accommodate up to eight guests and features a glass wall overlooking the wine display, with curtains available for added privacy. Guests can also enjoy the convenience of an optional private entrance.
