ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando, Fla.-based Olive Garden’s website crashed yesterday during the company’s Never-Ending Pasta pass promotion, its latest attempt to drum up more business.

The promo sold 1,000 passes for $100 each, giving customers seven weeks of unlimited pasta, bread sticks and Coco-Cola beverages. Customers had to sign into the company’s website at 3 p.m. to purchase them, but the overwhelming response crashed the website. “We received half a million visitors within the first half hour,” said Tara Gray, company spokesperson, as reported by New York’s Business Insider.

According to USA Today, the company sold out of the passes within 45 minutes and will be offering social-media giveaways up to the start of the annual Never-Ending Pasta Bowl promotion Sept. 22.
