TORONTO — OpenTable recently launched Icons, a city-specific destination within the platform for diners to discover and book the most in-demand tables. Icons is designed to reflect the iconic status of these restaurants with enhanced branding and an elevated search experiences. Icons makes it easier for diners by curating a selection of the city’s top hot spots and surfacing the soonest they can get a table.
To earn the designation of an OpenTable Icon, restaurants must meet criteria including accolades such as recently earned Michelin stars and recognition, inclusion in Canada’s 100 Best or Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants, positive diner and critic reviews, celebrated chefs and strong diner interest, among other factors.
“Canada’s culinary scene boasts top chefs and restaurants, and Icons helps to spotlight these with ease,” says Matt Davis, country director for OpenTable Canada. “The enhanced search experience allows diners to more easily book tables at award-winning and in-demand restaurants in some of Canada’s top culinary destinations.”
Icons is live with restaurants in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. OpenTable will continue to unveil and spotlight additional Icons throughout the year. The inaugural Canadian class of Icons includes:
