MARKHAM, Ont. — Redberry opened its first of 300 Jersey Mike’s locations in Canada yesterday in Markham, Ont. at 8600 Woodbine Avenue. This marks the first major international expansion for the chain in its 68-year history.
To celebrate, Redberry will hold a grand opening and fundraiser from until September 1 to support Make-A-Wish Canada. Customers who receive a fundraising coupon distributed through a grassroots effort prior to the opening can make a minimum $3 contribution in exchange for a regular sub.
Customers without a coupon will have a limited-time opportunity to download the Jersey Mike’s app and earn a free regular sub after their first in-app sub purchase and will also be able to support Make-A-Wish Canada via a donation box near the register.
“We’re excited to bring A Sub Above to the Greater Toronto Area,” says Ken Otto, CEO, Redberry. “This is Redberry’s first new Jersey Mike’s location to open in Canada and we can’t wait to share this iconic brand with our new neighbours.”
Markham is the first of six new Jersey Mike’s locations planned for Ontario in 2024, forming the foundation for rapid new store growth. By the end of the year, Redberry will open additional GTA locations including York Mills and Union Station, as well as three others in Brantford, Guelph and Pickering, Ont. These six locations will employ nearly 100 crew members. Redberry also owns the two existing and recently re-modelled Jersey Mike’s locations in Kitchener and London, Ont.
In March 2024, the Kitchener and London, Ont. locations raised $12,000 during Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving to benefit Make-A-Wish Canada.
