The mother and daughter team of Michelle and Paisley Nahanee have opened the doors to their Vancouver tea house The Capilano. The 750-sq-ft.space, designed by Paisley, connects customers to her First Nations culture. The tea house’s menu offers a variety of beverage options including tea lattes ($5 to $6), Goliath Coffee ($3.50 to $4) and Capilano Teas ($3 to $3.50). Hungry guests can also munch on a variety of tea sweets such as a flourless chocolate lavender cake, vegan “cheese” cake and chai-chai pudding ($6 each). The tea house also offers the West Coast Wild Tea Service, a mobile service that provides both vegetarian and meat options. The vegetarian menu includes Buckwheat Tabouli Endive Canoe Salad, pear and cauliflower phyllo, wild-rice phyllo, mushroom pie and an apple with avocado sandwich ($24 per person, includes tea). The meat fans’ menu includes Sockeye Salmon Endive Canoe Salad, bison phyllo, elk pie, mushroom pie and smoked duck with apple sandwiches ($28 per person, includes tea).
