TORONTO — Food bank usage in Canada has surged by 78.5 per cent since 2019 and, even more shocking, children make up just 20 per cent of the population but account for 33 per cent of the nearly two million visits.
In response, on October 16, $1 from every cookie sold at your local Subway restaurant will be donated to Food Banks Canada, helping fight childhood food insecurity right here in local communities across Canada.
Through its Never Miss Lunch initiative, Subway has helped Food Banks Canada deliver more than 710,000 food packs to hundreds of communities in need across the country.
With 77 million cookies sold last year, Subway cookies are a fan-favourite and this year, as they celebrate five years of giving back through their partnership with Food Banks Canada, they’re using that love for cookies to make an even bigger impact.
