TORONTO — The Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals (CAFP) Toronto chapter has announced a new partnership with the Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA) and the Ontario Hostelry Institute (OHI) following the CAFP’s decision to dissolve, according to an email sent to branch members.
The announcement, signed by branch president Nancy Hewitt, notes that the new partnership will “present opportunities for members to connect with industry leaders, chefs and 11,000 establishments in the hospitality sector.”
In 2017, the CAFP recognized the need to address a drop in member engagement, which had led to lower attendance at events, a drop in membership and branches closing, and decided to undertake the Challenge Dialogue System Network consultive process.
Following the Challenge Dialogue research, the CAFP’s Past Presidents’ Council ultimately presented a motion to dissolve the association following a positive vote at its 2019 Annual General Meeting, which took place in Halifax on May 17.
