CALGARY — Century Casinos Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of Century Casinos, Inc., (CCE), has agreed on credit and management operations with United Horsemen of Alberta Inc., (UHA), in the development of a proposed race track and entertainment complex — including foodservice.

“We are excited about the opportunity to bring horse racing back and [offer] international-style casino-gaming entertainment,” said Peter Hoetzinger, president, CEO, Century Casinos, Inc. “The racing entertainment centre is ideally and conveniently located adjacent to the Cross Iron Mills shopping mall on Queen Elizabeth II highway, just north of Calgary International Airport.”

It’s anticipated the project — to be built in the Balzac area of Calgary — will include a 5.5-furlongs race track, extensive gaming floor as well as a bar, lounge, restaurant and entertainment area.

Credit and management agreements are subject to licensing from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. Horse Racing Alberta, the governing authority for horse racing in Alberta, has already approved the project and issued a licence.

The Company anticipates that the race track and entertainment centre will be completed 12 to 18 months following completion of the approval process.
