TORONTO — Steve Gonzalez, Origin’s former chef de cuisine, is planning to open a restaurant in the trendy King West neighbourhood in the space formerly occupied by Cheval nightclub.
“I feel great, I’m so excited,” said Gonzales as quoted by Toronto’s Grid. “I don’t have to pick up my whole production. It’ll be a lot of work, but I’m glad to have a restaurant to cook from again.”
The new restaurant, named Valez, will have a lounge area and rooftop patio that will seat approximately 140 guests. The menu will spotlight Latin American street food with flavours from Colombia, Venezuela, Uruguay, Brazil, the Caribbean and Mexico.
Gonzalez is expecting to open the new eatery by June.
