CAMBRIDGE, ONT. — Jonathan Gushue, the executive chef at Langdon Hall Country House Hotel and Spa in Cambridge, Ont., has been reported missing.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything from Jonathan since Dec. 31. We expected to see him for our New Year’s celebrations, but we continued with our chef de cuisine, David Sider,” said Jessica Pearce, Langdon Hall’s marketing and public relations co-ordinator in Cambridge, Ont.

Pearce said staff at the country hotel haven’t seen Gushue since late December. “We last saw him on Dec. 29; he was here for his shift — he normally has Sundays off — it was all very normal, but it wasn’t until the Dec. 31 that Langdon Hall became concerned. “We hope the media attention will assist in a safe return to his family,” said Pearce.

The Globe and Mail has reported the well-decorated Canadian chef checked out of the Toronto Park Hyatt hotel Dec.31 and hasn’t been seen since.

Gushue is married with three children. The Newfoundland native’s career includes a string of progressive roles at various fine-dining restaurants, including Truffles at Toronto’s Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts; Wedgewood Hotel & Spa in Vancouver; and The Berkeley Hotel in London, England, to name a few.

Gushue is described as white, 5-10 inches tall and 180 lbs. He has short dark hair and blue eyes. Police said Gushue may be going by the name Jonathan Herder — Herder is Gushue’s middle name. Anyone with information about the chef’s whereabouts should contact Waterloo Police at (519) 650-8500 ext. 2299.
