Hostess Enters Mediation With Union

IRVING, Texas — There’s still hope for Hostess Brands, following its motion filed last week in bankruptcy court to close its business and sell its assets.

“Hostess Brands Inc. announced that it will follow a request from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to enter a confidential mediation on Tuesday with the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco and Grain Millers Union (BCTGM),” reads a statement on the website of the company, which makes Twinkies and Wonder Bread among other products.

Hostess will talk with union reps with regard to the strike that is said to have forced the company to close shop.

Meanwhile, Hostess’ plants remain closed, and if mediation isn’t successful today, hearings to wind down the company will resume tomorrow.
