TORONTO — Jamie Oliver’s rustic Italian restaurant concept, Jamie’s Italian, is set to debut in Canada with the opening of a location inside Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre next spring.
For this new venture Oliver partnered with Toronto-based King Street Food Company, which owns Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse, Buca Osteria & Enoteca, The Saint Tavern and Bar Buca, and is helmed by founders Rob Gentile, Peter Tsebelis and Gus Giazitzidis. “Canada is a place very close to my heart. I’m always excited about spending time there, and whenever I visit, I always get an amazing welcome. For a while now, I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect partner to open a restaurant with. So, when I tasted the menu at Buca and found that we had the exact same ideas in mind, I knew I had found the right guys to kick-start this exciting project with. It’s going to be epic,” said Oliver.
Sharing dishes will be on offer at Jamie’s Italian Toronto, with a complement of fresh pizza and pasta made on-site daily as well as an antipasti station with cured meats.
Jamie Oliver currently has 43 restaurants, including 35 in the U.K. and eight international locations.
