TORONTO — Effective yesterday, the 10-per-cent discount restaurants and bars receive at the LCBO retail stores and at wholesale.lcbo.com has increased to 15 per cent. The discount will remain in place until Dec. 31, 2025.
“At the new rate of 15 per cent, we estimate that an average-sized restaurant reliant on products purchased form the LCBO for approximately 20 per cent of its sales benefits from approximately $8,000 to $10,000 in savings per year,” says Kris Barnier, VP, Central Canada, Restaurants Canada. “We’ll continue to work with the government on the development of a new wholesale pricing regime that will come into force in 2026.”
This initiative builds on a number of actions the government has taken that’s helped the industry protect restaurant locations and jobs, including the Ontario portion of the recent HST holiday; freezing and cutting alcohol taxes and markup; WSIB relief; and tax relief/direct payments to consumers that have helped them have discretionary income.
