TORONTO — At this year’s one-day hiring event, held April 6, McDonald’s Canada added 8,920 new employees to its team, exceeding its target hiring goal by 1,900 (nearly 30 per cent) and breaking its previous record.

McDonald’s Canada established annual event in 2011 in an effort to increase job growth and since then, the QSR has welcomed more than 36,000 new employees.
This year’s new hires will fill restaurant manager, cook, crew and Guest Experience Leader positions. “We are thrilled to welcome thousands of new employees to the McDonald’s family during such an exciting time for our brand,” says Sharon Ramalho, Chief People Officer at McDonald’s Canada. “Our new employees will gain highly sought-after skills, such as problem-solving, communication, teamwork and decision-making. These ‘skills for life’ are the same ones I learned behind the counter when I started as a crew member and continue to serve me in my career every day.”

A total of 44,392 people applied at this year’s hiring event; 3,018 new employees were hired in Ontario, 3,471 in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces and 2,431 in Western Canada.
