NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. — Niagara College launched its Commercial Beekeeping Graduate Certificate program — the first of its kind in Eastern Canada — this morning at the Niagara College Greenhouse at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus.
Niagara College faculty, staff, students, as well as representatives of the Ontario Beekeepers’ Association (OBA) and Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) were on hand to mark the beginning of the program, which was developed in consultation with the OBS to meet the growing demand for highly trained beekeepers.
The announcement was followed by a tour of the on-campus apiary, which includes 30 actively managed hives and will serve as a key hands-on learning environment for students in the program.
