CALGARY — Flores & Pine, a new elevated casual restaurant and event space, has opened at the Bearspaw Country Club in Calgary, taking over the space that formerly housed the Bears Den.

The restaurant draws inspiration for its name from local icon Flores La Due, the “first lady” of the Calgary stampede.

“We wanted to bring something back to the community of Bearspaw that the whole community could enjoy, but also those of surrounding neighbourhoods,” says co-owner Mahyar Khosravi. “When the Bears Den closed, it left a void in the community and, because we live in this community ourselves, it felt only natural to bring a fresh new concept into this unique space.”

Canadian chef Rory McGouran helms the new restaurant, which features a menu of rustic contemporary Canadian cuisine, including wood-fire-grilled specialties such as rotisserie chicken.

The opening of Flores & Pine comes with a complete redesign and renovation of the space. Amanda Hamilton Interior Design was in charge of the transformation, turning the old space into five distinct areas: The Grillroom, The Atrium, The Estate Room, The Gallery Bar and the Patio. With seating up to 200 people inside and up to 264 people outside, each distinct room reflects the rural charm of the region, with rich materials, greenery and earthy textures.
