JOE BATT’S ARM, N.L. — Fogo Island Inn has opened its newest restaurant concept, The Storehouse.
The Storehouse will offer simple, healthy dining options that celebrate local foods through a contemporary interpretation. Seafood, berries, and root vegetables in familiar preparation will take centre stage, including local favourites such as fish and chips. The restaurant will also be a community hub, offering a friendly gathering place for community members to come together for fun and social learning opportunities, including cooking classes, recipe-sharing, gardening tips, and nutrition workshops.
“For many people, but especially Fogo Islanders, food is so much more than sustenance,” reads a release. “What we eat, grow, forage, and fish tells us about the culture, environment, and history of a place. Understanding and celebrating our local foodways is another avenue to build stronger relationships between people and place and reinforce the importance of local growing and sourcing to our economy.”
The Inn has also expanded its programming to include seasonal events, such as a four-day Cheese Feast with Afrim Pristine (November 2 to 6, 2023).
