OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Kansas-based NPC International, Inc. has set its sights on Wendy’s for acquisitions, announcing it’s entered into an agreement with Charlotte, N.C.-based Carlisle Corporation to acquire 56 Wendy’s units for $58.2 million.

Units will be owned and operated by NPC Quality Burgers, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of NPC International. “This acquisition will be our fourth acquisition in the Wendy’s system since our initial foray into the system in July of last year. Our Wendy’s holdings, including this acquisition, will total 146 restaurants with revenues approaching 15 per cent of our total consolidated revenues. We look forward to continuing to grow in the Wendy’s system as the brand’s momentum is compelling and the ‘Cut Above’ positioning is truly resonating with consumers,” said Jim Schwartz, chairman and CEO of NPC International, Inc. The 56 units, which are located in North Carolina and Virginia, generated $77 million in sales last year. The deal is expected to close in late July.
