310 West 4 Ave.

Customers can grab a growler to take home or stay put and dine at Big Rock Urban Brewery and Eatery, a new neighbourhood pub that lets guests watch the magic being made at the Big Rock brewery next door. Designed by local firm Aura, the Big Rock Urban shows off wood tables, polished concrete and stainless-steel equipment inside the 20,000-sq.-ft. space. Chef Alex Newton offers a menu of shared plates and cooks pizza/flatbreads out of a handmade wood stone oven (including smoked duck pizza topped with braised fennel and stout béchamel, Fior de latte and mandarin orange, $13) and prepares other dishes such as Japanese-style Tsukune chicken with ginger, leeks and Asian barbecue sauce ($6). Guests can also sample the brewery’s creations with a beer flight ($8) with options such as Big Rock’s Chocolate Malt Stout, Single-hopped IPA and Grasshopper Ale.
