Ricky’s Restaurants Now Serving Hormone-free and Antibiotics-free Pork

VANCOUVER — The Ricky’s chain of family-style restaurants — which includes approximately 90 locations, consisting of Ricky’s All Day Grills, Ricky’s Café and Ricky’s Country Restaurants — will now serve pork raised without antibiotics or added hormones (RWA). Ricky’s had been working for a year to make the initiative a reality.

Ricky’s RWA menu items include maple bacon, breakfast sausage, chorizo sausage, Bavarian sausage, famer’s sausage and Black Forest ham. The QSR says there will be no discernable difference in taste between its prior offerings and its RWA replacements. Ricky’s menu will have an RWA symbol printed on breakfast entrées with naturally sourced pork as part of the chain’s “better for you” breakfast program.

“We are thrilled to be the first breakfast restaurant chain in Canada to offer breakfast meats raised without antibiotics,” says Stacey Hansson, SVP at Ricky’s. “We continue to be committed to serving the best quality breakfast, which is now also simply better for our guests. We strongly agree with and support the ‘don’t take unnecessary antibiotics’ message, telling the public we don’t need antibiotics every time we are not feeling well. And we definitely don’t need them in our food. Antibiotics are for the sick, not the hungry.”

Ricky’s next focus is to provide similar options for its beef and chicken entrées. Currently, the company offers Ocean Wise-recommended seafood products, which ensures its seafood is sourced from sustainable fishing practices.
