The Harbord Room Closing

TORONTO — Cory Vitiello is closing The Harbord Room at the end of October.

In a social-media announcement issued this weekend, it was announced that Oct. 29 would be the Toronto restaurant’s “final last call.” A post on The Harbord Room’s Instagram page says the 10-year-old restaurant is closing to allow Vitiello and his partners to focus on other projects.

“It wasn’t easy coming to this conclusion, but we feel it’s for the best. The Harbord Room was always an owner-operated restaurant…That hasn’t been the case the last two years,” the post reads. “We’ve been lucky enough to have had absolutely amazing people running the bar, kitchen and restaurant in our absence, but it’s not fair to them or to our guests for the owners to not be around on more of a regular basis. This is how we came to this difficult decision.”

Last September, Vitiello launched the fast-casual chain Flock Rotisserie + Greens, which has since expanded to include four Toronto locations. The chef also appears on Food Network Canada’s Chef in Your Ear.
