OAKVILLE, Ont. — Tim Hortons has opened its first restaurant in the Sultanate of Oman. The new site — located in Muscat Grand Mall in Muscat, Oman — is the 20th Tim Hortons to open in the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) network of countries, under a master license agreement with the Dubai-based Apparel Group last year.
“We’sre thrilled the Apparel Group has reached the milestone of 20 restaurants in the Gulf Co-operation Council since opening the first location in Dubai in 2011,” says David Roy, managing director, International Operations, Tim Hortons.
The agreement with Apparel Group includes more than 100 multi-format restaurants over five-years in the GCC within the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.
In 2010, the Oakville, Ont.-based company began to explore opportunities for growing the brand outside of North America. It will continue to focus on expansion in existing GCC markets, focusing next on Qatar.
Apparel Group is a global fashion and lifestyle brand operating more than 50 brands in 14 countries.
