Coming Soon: Joey Bell Tower

EDMONTON — Joey Restaurant Group is opening its newest location, Joey Bell Tower, in downtown Edmonton August 18. The new spot will boast a number of features that are a first for the chain, such as an open kitchen with glass walls, which allows guests to see the chefs in action.

“Guests will see the kitchen like never before,” says Darin Getty, regional manager of Joey Restaurants. “This design will truly showcase the talent we house at Joey.”

The entrance to Joey Bell Tower is adorned with custom chandeliers designed by Calgary-based modern lighting group, Christiaan+Planck. The restaurant’s architectural pièce de résistance is a large double-sided chevron wine wall crafted by Alberta Custom Metal Fabricators. The entire back wall of the restaurant is paved with Purington pavers — a vintage-style brick most commonly used to form roads in the early twentieth century. This wall also serves as the backdrop to a refurbished neon sign from 1930s Chicago.

A covered garden terrace with a double-sided fireplace allows guests to enjoy a more serene eating environment, even during Edmonton’s cold winter months. Joey Bell Tower is also the first Joey restaurant to utilize a bar island, which is located in the lounge. The island will be host to a juicing station where bartenders will exhibit their skills.

The menu boasts a number of new dishes created by Joey executive chef, Chris Mills, including:

  • Osaka-style pressed salmon sushi — fire-seared salmon, umami sauce and shaved serrano peppers
  • Night Market Curry Dip — a spicy chickpea curry served with house-baked naan bread and aromatic herbs
  • Chef’s daily rotisserie chicken — chicken brined for 24 hours, spit-roasted hourly with signature spices and finished with globally inspired flavours that change daily

“It was important to me to share the whole culinary experience with our guests,” says Mills. “Our showcase kitchen allows guests to see the craftsmanship and quality that goes into every dish. We’re also excited to feature our liquid nitrogen spun-daily ice cream — perfect for the long summer days. We work with a talented group of chefs and we are excited to showcase their skills.”

10310 – 101 Street, Ice District, Edmonton
