TORONTO — South St. Burger’s Bayview village location has earned its LEED certification for environmentally sustainable design.
“In addition to making great food, being environmentally conscious is important to our business,” said Jay Gould, president and founder, New York Fries and South St. Burger Co. “Our customers appreciate it, and we hope to keep improving in this area as innovative equipment and sustainable technology continues to evolve.”
The list of environmentally responsible practices at the Bayview Village South St. location, include reduced water consumption, higher utilization of FSC-certified wood, the elimination of CFC-based refrigerants and the installation of Energy Star rated appliances, among a list of other initiatives.
The company is the first burger chain in Ontario to receive LEED certification as well as the only tenant in Bayview Village to attain this designation.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a third-party certification program, which was founded in 2002.
