TORONTO — After sifting through more than 200 company nominations and 40,000 employee surveys, the Toronto-based Great Place to Work Institute of Canada has named the best employers and a handful of foodservice companies made the list.

In the 20th spot, General Mills Canada Corporation was the highest ranked foodservice company on the list, which also feted Cadbury, Joey Restaurant Group and Diageo Canada Inc. — the sole beverage alcohol company mentioned.

Debra Kelly-Ennis, the president & CEO of Diageo Canada is happy to see her company named on the list for the second year in a row. “Our people are the heartbeat of Diageo. They bring our corporate culture and values to life every day, and this award is a testament to the commitment, dedication and contribution of all employees,” she said, explaining the secret to the company’s success. “Employee satisfaction, engagement and investment towards people development continue to be Diageo’s top priorities.”

This year marks the fifth time that Great Place to Work Institute has published its Canadian listings. Two-thirds of the score are generated through employee accounts that measure the relationships between employees, management, their jobs/organization and other employees.
