Canada will crown its number 1 barista at the upcoming Canadian Coffee & Tea Show, October 14-15 at The Vancouver Convention Centre.
Every year dozens of baristas vie for the prestigious opportunity to represent Canada at The World Barista Championship, but only the top 16 contenders from around the country get a chance to strut their espresso-making skills at the annual Canadian Barista Championship. In a heated or perhaps frothed competition, each competitor must prepare four espressos, four cappuccinos and four original signature drinks in a tight window of time for a panel of discerning coffee judges. Judges will rate the competitors on taste, design, speed, showmanship and creativity. The national champion will represent Canada on the international competition stage at the World Barista Championship held next June in London, England.
