Celebrating Italy’s Food Culture through a Virtual Dinner

TORONTO — The Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICCO) held a virtual dinner last Thursday themed as “A Dinner for Italy,” celebrating Italy’s food culture and the authentic “Made-in-Italy” brand.

Hosted by Domenic Primucci, president of Pizza Nova, the night featured appearances by Heinz Beck, Michelin-starred chef from Rome; Rob Gentile, culinary director of Buca and King Street Food Company; and Oscar Farinetti, founder of Eataly.

The event was an opportunity to experience Italy’s culinary traditions when a sense of belonging and connection is more important than ever.

Acclaimed chefs and community leaders gathered virtually for the closing of the fundraising campaign “COVID-19 AiutiAMO l’Italia” organized by the Embassy of Italy in Canada to support the Red Cross and the Italian Civil Protection Department in their fight against the Coronavirus.

In less than a month, the group raised $1 million. Those still interested in donating to the efforts can visit redcross.ca/ItalyCovidAppeal/HelpItaly.
