Chipotle Launches Hand-Crafted Quesadilla

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Chipotle Mexican Grill has introduced a new Hand-Crafted Quesadilla as a customizable digital-only menu item in Canada and the U.S.

This launch marks the company’s first customizable entrée to be added to the brand’s menu since the addition of a salad option 17 years ago.

In summer of 2020, Chipotle tested the product as a digital-only offering, in Cleveland and Indianapolis, to capitalize on the digital scale of the brand and utilize its Digital Kitchen. Through the pilot, the brand was able to learn from customer feedback before deciding on a national launch strategy.

“We’re so excited to answer the call from fans and introduce one of the most highly anticipated menu items in our brand’s history,” says Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, Chipotle Mexican Grill. “The Hand-Crafted Quesadilla brings so many new possibilities to our menu and fans will love exploring fresh flavour combinations through its sides and salsa options.”

The quesadilla is filled with Monterey Jack cheese and is available with chicken, steak, carnitas, barbacoa, sofritas or Fajita Veggies, on a preservative-free flour tortilla. It is prepared on a new custom oven in Chipotle’s Digital Kitchen and served in 100-per-cent compostable packaging that allows guests to pick three accompanying salsas or sides — including fresh tomato salsa, sour cream or hand-mashed guacamole.
