TORONTO — The St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA’s first annual Feast of St. Lawrence Festival kicks off August 12 with a dining event in support of Foodshare Toronto.

A five-course dinner — prepared by acclaimed Toronto chefs using locally sourced ingredients — will be served to 200 guests seated at two 100-foot tables, which will extend along Front St. between Scott St. and Church St.

Participating restaurants include the King Edward Hotel, Biff’s Bistro, Barsa Taberna, The Sultan’s Tent, The Hot House Restaurant, Pearl Diver, Woods and Hawthorne Food & Drink. Wine is being supplied by the Somewhereness group of wineries.

On August 13, the celebration moves to the St. Lawrence Market and Market St., with indoor food demonstrations using local farm-fresh produce, outdoor food stalls and canning sessions. Restaurant partners include the St. Lawrence Market, Farmer’s Market, Barsa Taberna, Bindia Indian Bistro, Cresta Restaurant and Evolution Food Co., Balzac’s Coffee and Market Street Catch.

“The St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA in Old Town Toronto is excited to celebrate one of the pillars of its community — food and cuisine — amongst the majestic backdrop of its cultural and historic icons. I believe the Feast of St. Lawrence festival will be quite a filling experience,” says Al Smith, executive director, St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA.
