FIC Canada Elects New President and Board of Directors

TORONTO —  At its recent AGM, held March 7 at Ristorante Boccaccio, the Association of Italian Chefs of Canada, better know as Federation Italian Chefs – Canada (FIC), elected its new president and Board of Directors.

The Federation aims to bring together professional chefs and supporters of the catering sector, establish relationships with other local authorities operating in the same field and promote initiatives with the goal of spreading Italian cuisine.

The following chefs were elected:

  • President: Luciano Schipano
  • Vice-president: Stefano Agostini
  • Secretary: Gino Marchetti
  • Treasurer: Gianni Ceschia

The AGM also elected the following chefs to its new Board of Directors:

  • Teresa Gorys,
  • Giovanni Scarchilli,
  • Claudio de Marchi,
  • Gianni Cannarella,
  • Gabriele Paganelli
  • and Alex Zicarelli

Schipano encouraged everyone to work together in re-vamping the federation and growing a bigger community. “I feel emotional and I feel the responsibility of my new role because is important to continue what the previous Board members and founder have done in the last 40 years. But we have a something in common: the love and passion for cooking and for Italian cuisine, these elements will help us to work together and build a stronger chef community.”

The federation will work to create partnerships with associations, institutions, and companies that are dedicated to promoting Italian cuisine in Canada. These partnerships will help to support the growth, development, and promotion of Italian food-and-wine heritage. Through these partnerships, the association will be able to provide access to resources, expertise, and knowledge to help further the cause of promoting Italian cuisine in Canada. The association will also work to create ways to share best practices and ideas among members, encouraging an even greater appreciation of Italian culture and cuisine in Canada.
