HALIFAX — Food producers and Taste of Nova Scotia members stole the show at Halifax’s Chamber of Commerce’s Business Awards recently, taking home gold in four of the five categories.

“This recognition acknowledges the hard work our local food producers put into the industry,” said Janice Ruddock, executive director of Taste of Nova Scotia, a province-wide culinary marketing program.

“And it proves that hard work pays off … that our local food producers can thrive and succeed in Nova Scotia.”

The gold winners included Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet Ltd. for New Business of the Year; Cedar Bay Grilling Company for Small Business of the Year; Clearwater Seafoods Limited Partnership for International Business of the Year; and Jean-Paul Deveau of Acadian Seaplants for Business Person of the Year. Meanwhile, Acadian Seaplants won silver for International Business of the year.
