WINDSOR, Ont. — Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd. has been named Distillery of the Year at the Canadian Whisky Awards held in Victoria.

In addition, to the Distillery of the Year award, Hiram Walker & Sons also claimed the title of Whisky of the Year for its J.P. Wiser’s 35 Year Old.

The Canadian Whisky Awards recognize the best in Canadian whisky and are held annually in conjunction with the Victoria Whisky Festival. The competition is judged by an independent panel of whisky experts, which selects the winners after tasting each whisky blind.

“Hiram Walker and Sons was the clear winner as Distillery of the Year at this year’s Canadian Whisky Awards because its products truly outperformed, both in quality and range,” says Davin de Kergommeaux, chairman of the judges, Canadian Whisky Awards. “Not only did the distillery produce the Whisky of the Year award winner — J.P. Wiser’s 35 Year Old — but it also submitted a broad variety of other whiskies that performed very, very well in their categories.”

“We’re incredibly proud to be named Distillery of the Year, especially as we mark 160 years since Hiram Walker himself started this business in 1858,” says Patrick O’Driscoll, president of Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd. “This award is a true testament to our capacity and passion for innovation and experimentation, and of course, the dedication and creativity of our fantastic employees.”
