VANCOUVER — B.C. voters might see a draft of the upcoming referendum question pertaining to the controversial harmonized sales tax (HST) by Nov. 15, CBC News reports.

The referendum, set to take place Sept. 24, 2011, comes in response to an anti-HST petition signed by more than 500,000 voters. According to the CBC, Premier Gordon Campbell has vowed to scrap the hotly contested sales tax if a majority of voters rail against it at the ballot box.

The tax, which was implemented in July, has been a contentious issue in the foodservice industry, according the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association, which has already reported its negative affect on the foodservice business.
