TORONTO — With healthy eating continuing to remain important to many consumers, Italpasta has introduced the latest addition to its For Pasta Lovers product lineup. Called Total Pasta, the new product line features 10g of fibre per 85g serving — two grams more fibre than the leading brand.

Executives from the company were on hand at Toronto’s Mistura restaurant yesterday to unveil the new product to the media.

Chef Massimo Capra, owner/chef of Mistura, and a spokesperson for Italpasta, treated guests to four different pasta dishes featuring the new product: spaghetti aglio and olio; elbows my way; penne alla montanara; and spaghetti with shrimp and zucchini.

“We are very proud to be unveiling the newest addition to our brand,” said Joe Vitale, founder, Italpasta Limited. “Canadians can now enjoy the benefits of a high-fibre pasta meal without having to sacrifice taste. Total Pasta demonstrates Italpasta’s commitment to providing Canadians with the best-tasting and highest-quality pasta everyone in the family can feel good about.”

Made from Canadian durum wheat semolina and fibre from inulin, the pasta provides 40 per cent of the recommended daily value intake of fibre.

“Total Pasta is a simple substitute for finicky eaters who do not like the nutty taste of whole-grain varieties of pasta but still want to reap the health benefits of a high-fibre diet,” said Frank DeMichino, COO, Italpasta. “From whole grain, to gluten-free, to all-natural and organic, and now to high-fibre recipes, Italpasta continually demonstrates our commitment to the well-being of pasta lovers.”
