ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Johnny Rockets is set to expand in Canada with the help of Canadian entrepreneur Lewis Gelmon, who signed a 40-unit master franchise agreement with the Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based chain.

The agreement was prompted by the popularity of better-burger concepts and a strong Johnny Rockets brand awareness in Canada. “Johnny Rockets’ brand reputation and cuisine are ideal for nationwide expansion in Canada,” explains Gelmon. “We begin with 40, but our development team of seasoned Canadian professionals feels the country can easily hold more than 100 units. As we move forward with development, we will seek out additional Canadian investor groups to bolster the brand’s expansion and are excited about the prospects.”

Development will include traditional Johnny Rockets restaurants as well as the brand’s newest prototypes. The first locations are expected to open in late 2016.
